Procedure for access to labs

All staff and graduate student requiring access to laboratories and student rooms will be required to complete the safety test before they are granted access. This is to ensure that they are are familiar with the safety policy and procedures within the department as well as the emergency procedures in case of an accident.

Procedure

1. Loan the safety training DVD from Mr Lee Yoon Kuang at Synthesis Teaching Lab, Block S5 Level 5 Room 10
2. Complete the Safety Manual
3. Take the safety test when you are ready (note that a passing grade of 70% is required)
4. On passing the safety test (check your safety test results here), complete the transponder loan form and the authorised access form.
5. Submit the completed form to Chemistry Admin Office, staff in charge of transponder loan will contact you when the transponder is ready

Undergraduate students lab access

Under NUS OSHE Directive 701, undergraduate students are not allowed to be issued with key access to laboratories. In addition, undergraduate student shall not work unsupervised in the laboratories.
