Sensitivity Guide

Typical Quantities (assuming a molecular mass of ~200 g/mol – adjust accordingly):

  • 1H and COSY – typically use approximately 5mg of sample (<1mg requires an ‘Extended’ acquisition).

  • HMQC - typically use 10mg of sample (<5mg requires an ‘Extended’ acquisition).

  • 13C and HMBC – typically use 20-50mg of sample (<10mg requires an ‘Extended’ acquisition).

  • 31P ca. one quarter the amount required for 13C.

  • 19F ca. twice the amount required for 1H.
  • Note: Halving the concentration of your sample, means the experiment will need to run for 4 times longer to obtain the same signal.
