X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS)

XPS provides a non-destructive qualitative and quantitative analysis of elements present on a sample surface, as well as the chemical state or local environment of each element. This is achieved through determining the binding energy of photoelectrons emitted from the sample upon X-ray irradiation.

The Kratos Amicus x-ray spectrometer in our lab provides the following capabilities:

  • Acquisition of survey and narrow spectra
  • High-speed etching gun for material removal and profile analysis
  • Selection of either Al or Mg anode target
  • Qualitative and quantitative analyses

XPS service is located at S8-01-01, please contact chmlky@nus.edu.sg(Mr Lee) or 6516-2676 for further information.
