Objective

The Ang Kok Peng Memorial Fund (AKP Fund) was established in NUS to honor the memory of Dr Ang Kok Peng. This Fund aims to support educational programmes and activities for the development of faculty, staff and students, in line with Dr Ang's work in chemistry education and research.

Ang Kok Peng Memorial Award (Undergraduate)

Chemistry, Applied Chemistry and Food Science and Technology undergraduates going abroad for (i) industrial attachment, (ii) student exchange, or (iii) pursuing a joint minor with a partner university.

Students in the Applied Chemistry and Food Science and Technology programmes are required to participate in a semester long industrial attachment.

Students pursuing a Joint Minor in Environmental Science with University of Toronto are required to spend a semester in the latter university reading modules offered by the Centre for Environment (UofT).

In the aforementioned activities, the student will have to pay for their airfare, accommodation, books, health insurance, living expenses (food, public transport etc.). Six applicants will be granted support of up to $4,000 for their travel expenses.

Closing date: 31 Aug of each calendar year

 

Criteria for the Ang Kok Peng Memorial Award (Undergraduate)

Six awards would be given annually to Level 2 or 3 students who has achieved good academic record (CAP >= 4.0) and has done some good service work for the community.

 

Ang Kok Peng Memorial Award (Teacher)

Chemistry teachers who are interested in pursuing any graduate studies at NUS leading to a higher degree.

Two awards would be given to Chemistry teachers to defray part of the cost incurred whilst pursuing graduate studies in NUS.

Ang Kok Peng Memorial Lectureship

The lectureship enables the Department of Chemistry to invite internationally eminent scholars to Singapore to make high level contributions to chemical educations in Singapore.
