Announcing a Poster Competition to Commemorate
Chemistry's 80th Anniversary in Singapore

Chemistry, as a taught subject in its own right, in the tertiary educational history of Singapore, has its roots in 1929 when Raffles College was established. In 1949, the College was merged with the King Edward VII College of Medicine to form the University of Malaya, from which the National University of Singapore (NUS) eventually emerged.

In 2009, therefore, we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of the advent of Chemistry in Singapore. The Department of Chemistry of NUS is organizing a series of events throughout the year to commemorate this important milestone.

One of these events is the 80th Anniversary of Chemistry Poster Competition, open to students between the ages of 10-16 throughout Singapore. The aim is to stir the imagination of young minds and see how they combine their visions of our chemical world with their artistic skills.
