Dr. Peter Chan received his higher education in the US. He has a B Sc in Pharmacy from Northeastern University, a PhD in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the University of Mississippi, and an executive management diploma from the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a non-practising registered pharmacist in the US, a full voting member of the Society of Toxicology, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology.
During his 15 years with Rohm and Haas, a leading specialty chemical company based in the US, Dr. Chan held several key positions in product development, health and environmental risk assessment, regulatory compliance and registration of chemicals, technical services and business management. In 1991, Dr. Chan moved to Singapore to start up a technical center and to manage Rohm and Haas Biocide in Asia.
Currently he is the Managing Director of Polymer Coating Technologies. Dr. Chan has been a strong advocate of chemistry in Singapore. He has been a member of the Singapore Standards Council and the Chairman of the Singapore Chemical Standard Committee since 1998. After having been an industrial scientist for over 20 years, he has acquired a broad background in many chemical related disciplines including health and the environment, pesticides and biocides, and polymers and coatings.
His current scientific interests focus on R&D of latex and resins, polyurethane dispersions, as well as decorative, functional and biologically active coatings.
He has published over 20 original scientific papers and 5 book chapters, and has been a frequent speaker in scientific conferences and academic meetings.
