Research Interests
Analytical Chemistry
Capillary electrophoresis and chromatographic techniques: New analytical methods based on capillary electrophoresis have been developed. The methods have been applied in environmental, pharmaceutical, biochemical and clinical analyses. Supercritical fluid extraction has been used to extract compounds from natural products and environmental samples. Methods have been developed for systematic optimization of high performance liquid chromatographic separations.
Atomic force microscopy and related scanning probe techniques: Nanoscale analysis and device fabrication by scanning probe techniques have been studied. On-going research projects include development of in-situ monitoring techniques for semiconductor manufacturing processes by atomic force microscopy, and study of lubricants on hard disk by atomic force microscopy and frictional force microscopy.
Sensor technology: Quartz Crystal microbalance and surface acoustic wave devices are used for chemical sensing, biosensing, process control and environmental monitoring. Selective coatings are developed for detection of various chemicals and biochemicals, such as toxic vapors, environmental pollutants in water samples, proteins and antigens.
