Assoc Prof Thorsten Wohland has received Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers 2009. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation promotes academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany to sponsor long-term research stays at institutions in Germany.

Assoc Prof Zhou Weibiao has received the Annual Teaching Excellence Award 2008. It is awarded to faculty members who have displayed a high level of commitment to their teaching for the year under review. Faculty members who have won the award three times (since AY 03/04) will be placed on the Honour Roll to honour their sustained high performance in teaching.

His research in the last 10 years have revealed remarkable properties in diamind which could impact areas from medicine, electronics to nanoscience, providing ample opportunities for learning new chemistry and physics.
