Mass Spectrometry Laboratory - Request Submission

Submit Request Form
  • Please fill up a request form with sufficient information. There are three types of Request Form for Services available in the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory.
  • The ionization techniques include EI, CI, FAB, ESI and APCI. Each technique has its own advantages and limitations. Please consult the staff in the MS laboratory if you need assistant.
  • Request forms from research students must be signed by their supervisor.
  • Please attach a nominal mass spectrum with the request form for MS/MS and Accurate Mass Analysis.
  • Please attach a GC trace with the request form for GC/MS Analysis.
  • Please attach a LC trace with the request form for LC/MS Analysis.
  • Please place the completed request form in the correct form submission shelf.
Submit Sample
  • About 0.1mg to 1mg of solid or liquid sample is required. Sample should be kept in a clean sample vial labeled with sample ID.
  • Please place the samples in the correct sample submission tray that is labeled by ionization technique in the fume cupboard. Unstable samples can be kept in the MS Inbox in the refrigerator.
Collect Analysis Result
  • Sample request for nominal EI, APCI and ESI, normally the analysis result can be ready within 3 days. FAB samples will be analyzed on the 2nd and 4th week (Thursday and Friday only) of each month. For other ionization technique will depends on the instrument operation mode and individual request.
  • Please collected the analysis result form the spectrum collection shelf.
  • Please collect the completed samples from the MS Outbox. Unclaimed samples will be discarded.
  • For external samples, the results will be either sent by post or collected by the customer.
