Since 1971, NUS Chemical Sciences Society has been actively involved in promoting the study of Pure and Applied Chemistry under the Department of Chemistry. Over the years, we have grown under the management of an annually elected ten-member student executive committee to become one of the larger academic-related societies in the Faculty of Science.

In the near future, we hope to extend our reach to other departments, schools and faculties in
NUS so that more students will develop strong interests in chemistry-related subjects. To compliment our efforts, we publish our very own magazine, Chemiscope, yearly to inform students of fascinating issues that are associated with chemical sciences.

Besides fostering team spirit within the society, we also place great emphasis towards the organizing of enrichment programmes for our members. Some of the events that have been held in previous years include industrial visits to various chemical plants and career talks with specially invited guest speakers from government agencies and the local chemical industry.

On top of that, our society is concerned with the welfare of the student population. We arrange social gatherings (such as Mid Autumn Festival Celebrations) to encourage interaction among our members. Recently, our society also initiated a discussion session for our first year undergraduates to help them with their revision before the examinations.
